The fast food chain has announced its restaurants at Designer Village South Normanton and Nottingham Road Alfreton are once again serving customers, with new measures in place to help keep employees and customers safe.

Customers have been warned to expect higher wait times amid high demand and as staff adjust to new procedures.

A spokesperson warned Drive-Thru’s could be closed if they cause disruption to other road users.

They said: “McDonald’s and its franchisees are working closely with local authorities and the police, and may determine that it is necessary to close Drive Thru lanes if queues cause disruption at busier sites or put employees or customers at risk.”

A reduced menu will be in operation with reduced opening hours from 11am until 10pm. There will be no breakfast menu, either.

A spending limit of £25 per order will be encouraged, and customers are urged to pay by contactless payment methods. Drive-Thru customers can order ahead on the My McDonald’s App.

Perspex screens have been fitted at Drive-Thru windows and employees will be wearing protective equipment. Social distancing has also been introduced in the kitchens and service areas to help create a safe working environment.

Between 2 and 4 June more than 1000 McDonald’s restaurants will be open in the UK and Ireland, either for Drive-Thru or McDelivery. Restaurants opening will be published each day.
