Mansfield hairdresser makes the finals of prestigious hair and beauty awards

A Mansfield hairdresser who only set up her new business in November was shocked to discover she has made the finals of the Hair and Beauty Awards in two categories.

Jodie Westmoreland from Clipstone returned from maternity leave in November last year by setting up her new hairdressing business Jodie Rebecca Hairdressing.

Having been employed in the hair and beauty industry for 12 years, Jodie took on the daunting task of going self-employed with the added challenges of a pandemic.

Renting a chair at brand new Clipstone salon Halo Hair and Beauty, she decided she had ‘nothing to lose’ when she saw the competition online and admits she was ‘shocked’ to find out she had been shortlisted for the final in two categories.

She said: “I couldn’t believe it when they messaged me, I didn’t expect it at all.

"It has been so hard setting up a new business during the pandemic, I had to learn all the new safety procedures as well as sourcing clients, so it feels amazing to be recognised.”

Jodie is through to the finals in both ‘Best For Blonde’ and ‘Best New Salon’ and the awards will be held virtually later this year, which Jodie says she is looking forward to attending.

"It’s a shame the awards will only be virtual, but I’m still excited anyway” the mum of three continued.

"It feels really good that all my hard work has paid off, so we will be getting a takeaway and watching online.
