As the national lockdown was lifted hoards of people headed to the town centres for a spot of Christmas shopping retail therapy.
In Mansfield crowds queuing was evident outside banks, hairdressers, and clothing stores, such as Primark. One queue was spotted outside Poundland as early as 8am, but the shop did not open until 9am.
Sutton in Ashfield streets were not quite as busy, but shoppers were evidently making the most of the first day of lockdown freedom.
