The budget brand’s Mansfield branch, at Mansfield Leisure Park, closed on Thursday, January 30, for a week-long revamp which will bring wider aisles, more floor space and a “customer-focused” layout.

The transformation is part of Aldi’s £300 million investment into improving its services across the UK, and is based on feedback from 50,000 customers.

Fresh bread and cakes will move to the last aisle, which bosses have said will prevent them getting squashed under customers’ shopping – and the store will now offer new, “easy-to-browse” freezers.

Commenting on the Chad’s Facebook page, shoppers welcomed the refurbishment and said the current layout is “backwards”.

Victoria Norton said: “Thank god, I hate going to this Aldi – it’s so backwards compared to the others.”

Jenna Simpson said: “I don’t go to this one because of how it looks to be honest, and the car park off Nottingham Road getting there too.”

Like Jenna, others said they don’t use the Mansfield Aldi due to the “ridiculous” A60 junction going in and out of the retail park.

Jonathan Mark Hulbert said: “Luckily there’s no shortage of Aldis in the area in the mean time.

“This is the worst one anyway, I only go here if I’m getting free air for my tyres at Sainsbury’s.

“The last time I went up that way was two days before Christmas like a mug, and it took an hour-and-a-half to get out the car park.”

Carla Lambert added: “I don’t visit this branch simply because it’s hell to get in and out of. Sort the road out it’s ridiculous.”

Ollie Lott, store manager, has also welcomed the refurbishment.

He said: “We can’t wait to welcome our loyal customers back so they can see it for themselves.

“We know that the value and quality of our products is unbeatable, and we’re committed to making sure the shopping experience each customer enjoys in our stores is on a par with the products and services they’re used to.”

It will reopen following the refurbishment at 8am on Thursday, February 6.
