The event, which lasts until Sunday, will feature readings, workshops, performances and children’s events as part of its programme.

Highlights include war poetry to coincide with the centenary of the start of World War One, a poetry contest taking place over a series of fast paced rounds and a performance from the Pilgrims of Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales.

Derbyshire’s Poet in Residence Helen Mort will also be there.

She said “Helen said: “Southwell is a lovely place and I found it inspiring. I am delighted to be attending – these sorts of events put literature on the map locally.”
