To keep the peace, and with some encouragement from her friend, Wild Bill Hickok, Calamity rashly promises that she will set out for Chicago to bring back the hottest actress around, Adelaide Adams. I

n Chicago Calamity mistakes Adelaide’s maid, Katie Brown, for the actress. Stage-struck Katie pretends to be the great actress and agrees to go back to Deadwood with Calamity. However, when Katie starts to perform her opening number the crowds quickly realise that she is not who she says she is. At this Katie breaks down and confesses that she is not the famous Adelaide Adams and that she has deceived everyone including Calamity. Calamity once more has to restore order and persuades the audience to give Katie a chance. Calamity and Katie become the best of friends until Katie receives attention from Lieutenant Danny Gilmartin for whom Calamity has held a secret yearning.
