Ilkeston singer-songwriter Matt Henshaw recently achieved an international success when his third EP release Your Eyes Are Made Of Gold went into the Top 30 of the iTunes singer/songwriter chart.

In one year since playing at open mic events around the East Midlands, Matt has fulfilled his dream of becoming a full-time professional musician signed to a publishing company, releasing records, currently touring the UK and he will be heading over to Europe in the new year.

Having completed the Scottish leg of the tour, Matt will be returning to the East Midlands to play a free show at The Contemporary in Nottingham on Saturday, October 25.

Matt has also performed at esteemed venues up and down the country such as The Roundhouse in London and De Montfort Hall in Leicester, and took in a busy festival season over the summer, sometimes playing up to five or six shows in a single weekend.

Signing a publishing deal for his songs in July, Matt has been invited to work with the BPI, UKTI and PRS, who look after the likes of Adele, One Direction and Arctic Monkeys exporting their music around the world and programme the Brit Awards.

The show at The Contemporary will see him supported by fellow young Ilkeston singer-songwriter Josh Wheatley.

Following the night at The Contemporary, Matt will complete his UK tour, that will see him go up to Yorkshire and the North West.

Then in January he will be heading over to Europe to play over 50 venues and industry showcases in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Austria.

A BPI spokesperson said: “It’s easy to see why he is getting gigs across the country and over in Europe, just listen to the songs, Matt Henshaw has the potential to be as big as Ed Sheeran!”
