Time for adventure at Palace Theatre

Trevor Morley is both excited and anxious to make his return as the popular panto’s director.

As a true traditionalist, Mr Morley wants to bring the show back to its roots using a full cast of local actors.

Mr Morley first began directing Robinson Crusoe as part of the Hospital Theatre Troupe in 1982 and this will be his 16th time as its director.

“It was the first panto that I ever directed and it is a personal favourite of mine.

“It is a real adventure pantomime rather than the sleeping beauty type and people know me for being very traditionalist in my methods.

“Where as the panto’s previous director, had moved away from that for a while to try something new, I hope to bring a traditional feel back to the production.

“We are all really excited after four months of rehearsals and all the cast have worked so hard,” He said.

Robinson Crusoe will open at Mansfield Palace Theatre on 25th January and run until 1st February.

As well as creating fun-filled family friendly pantomime, The Hospital Theatre Troupe was set up with the sole aim of raising money for local charities and deserving causes through its annual takings.

To date it has raised around £113,000 which it has put back into the area.

Mr Morley added: “This year there will be more adventure, swash buckling gags and the bad guy is badder than ever!”
