Thrill-packed season ahead

The programme is packed with everything from musicals commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Great War to tribute bands, ballet and comedy plays.

September brings us the tale of a man from our very own Nottinghamshire.

Sam Sweeny’s Fiddle is a music, spoken word and film performance about a violin which was left unfinished when its owner was conscripted to fight - until six years ago when it was bought by the famous Bellowhead member.

While Jimmy Tarbuck fans will be taken on a trip down memory lane by the much-loved funny man as he delves into a trove of comical anecdotes accompanied by photos and video footage in Jimmy Tarbuck OBE: This is My Life.

And for rock and roll fans there is The Everly Brothers & Friends Tribute Show.

In October The Paul Zerdin Show promises to be full of colourful characters, shocks and surprises, side-splitting skits and some seriously naughty humour.

Stones in His Pockets by Marie Jones tells the hilarious and moving tale of a quiet Irish community turned upside down by the arrival of a Hollywood movie shoot.

And two highly talented actors play fifteen characters between them.

On a more serious note, Dark Clouds are Smouldering into Red is an emotive exploration of separation, loss and social upheaval told through music and dance.

For the young ones there is Milkshake! Party Party Live and panto Ha Ha Hood! and the Prince of Leaves, starring Su Pollard and comedy duo Cannon and Ball.

A host of music includes One Night of Queen, Steeleye Span, Strictly Streisand with special guest Neil Diamond Revue and The Simon & Garfunkel Story.

In November Moscow Ballet La Classique return with a world-class production of Swan Lake, the most popular of all classical ballets set to Tchaikovsky’s superb score – the ultimate fairy tale ballet.

Not About Heroes tells the unforgettable story of two of the finest Great War poets, Wilfred Owen and Siegfried Sassoon - their friendship, their interdependency and their poetry.

Handel’s Messiah will be performed by Mansfield Choral Society and Buddy Holly and the Cricketers will bring the classic rock and roll band back to life.

Other music shows include Remember When at Christmas, the Supersonic 70s Show and Simon Mayor and Hilary James at the Crescent Centre, Bull Farm, Mansfield.

December features festive family offering Sleeping Beauty, starring Vicky Entwistle, aka, Janice Battersby from Coronation Street and Amy Thompson, from Milkshake, Channel5.
