The 2.30pm performance of Soul Sister, a musical about the life of Ike and Tina Turner, has been cancelled due to illness.

A spokesman said: “After lengthy discussions, it is clear that Jenny Fitzpatrick, who plays Tina Turner, will almost certainly not be able to undertake three performances in just over 24 hours due to the strain this would place on her vocal cords.

“This medical problem coupled with a back injury to the understudy which has left her unable to step into the role as a replacement had already caused Wednesday’s matinee to be cancelled and Thursday evening’s performance to be re-directed to a concert performance.

“In order to ensure that the two remaining evening performances can still go ahead this week this difficult decision has had to be made.

“We regret any inconvenience that this causes our patrons and apologies that the producers have been unable to provide the show we had all hoped to see on the stage for certain performances this week.”
