Museum hosts new English/Polish play

A new play aimed at young children who speak English or Polish is being performed at Mansfield Museum.

The Independent Scrutineers, a new Nottingham-based theatre company, has a two-week residency from Monday 20th to Friday 31st January at the museum.

The company is performing ‘Charlie and the Cotton Wool Coat’ - the story of a boy who lives with his Polish grandmother, babcia.

She lovingly protects him, however Charlie is six now and wants to explore more of the great outdoors.

Aimed at Key Stage One classes with enquiring minds, it will help children to develop an interest in creative play and exploring the outdoors and different habitats.

It features the English and Polish language as well as animation, puppetry, shadow-play and music.

Local schools were invited to spend a day with The Independent Scrutineers, to explore the performance, its story and its themes, and the company were overwhelmed by the positive response to experience the unique opportunity to share Polish culture.
