Of Mice and Men at Create

A classic tale from American literature is coming to the stage at Mansfield’s Create Theatre this week, performed by local theatre group, The Kitchen Table Trio.

A story of migrant workers during the Great Depression in 1930s America, John Steinbeck’s Of Mice and Men is being performed from Thursday to Saturday.

It is a doomed tale of friendship and morality which follows George and Lennie, two ranch workers who move from place to place in search of job opportunities but seem to attract trouble wherever they go and Lennie’s innocence is their tragic undoing.

The Kitchen Table Trio is made up of Drew Baxter, Andy Dobb and Jack Burrows, who have had recent stage success at Create with The Odd Couple and Drag Queens on Trial.

Theatre co-ordinator Adam Pownall said: “It’s great to be hosting yet another local theatre company and Kitchen Table Trio really are showcasing the best acting talent in the community.”

Widely-read in English lessons in schools, Steinbeck’s classic tale of loneliness, loyalty and longing is as relevant today as it was 1937.

Tickets for the performance cost £6, concessions £4, or £8 on the door. To purchase tickets call Mansfield 413363 or visit www.createtheatre.co.uk.
