Hop aboard the Carousel

The Kimberley-based NOWMADS (Nottingham West Music and Drama Society) is keen to recruit new members - male and female - over the age of 16, to take part in its autumn production of Carousel.

Graham Lambert, who will be directing the popular Rodgers and Hammerstein classic, and NOWMADS’ chairman Gillian Williams are leading a new performers campaign.

“We have some excellent young thespians in our ranks and it is imperative that we maintain the high standards that we have reached with our recent productions,” said Gillian.

“We hold auditions and obviously those putting themselves forwards need to have reasonable acting and singing qualities.”

Since it inception in 1979, NOWMADS has made giant strides and audiences have been given full value with productions such as Guys and Dolls, Hello Dolly, and more recently Annie and Half a Sixpence.

The group performs its shows at the Kimberley School Theatre and rehearses at local venues.

Carousel, first performed in the USA in the 1945 to great acclaim, is one Rodgers and Hammerstein’s best loved musicals. It contains such popular numbers as You’ll Never Walk Alone and June Is Bustin’ Out All Over.

Anyone interested in joining NOWMADS should contact Gillian on 01773 770407.
