Enron scandal on the Playhouse stage

Inspired by one of the most infamous financial scandals of recent times, a play about Texan energy giant Enron is being performed at Nottingham Playhouse this week.

Written by British playwright Lucy Prebble, the story tracks how the company moved from a model of the future to a bankrupt disaster with debts of 38 billion dollars.

Following their productions of Woyzeck (2012) and The Trial (2011), the talented young actors of Nottingham Playhouse Youth Theatre are bringing this remarkable story about power, deception and humiliation to the stage.

Sarah Stephenson, director of Youth Theatre, said: “This is such a relevant play to young people because it tells the story of how people at the top, people in power, can directly impact on our future generation and the decisions they make in life.”

Enron is on from Thursday until Saturday (8th to 10th August 2013). Tickets are priced £6 - £8.

The Nottingham Playhouse Youth Theatre has many opportunities for young people aged nine to 21 who are interested in drama.
