DON’T BE LATE FOR THRILLER

Late, written by founding member Stephen Lee Rees, was produced last October, and now, due to much public acclaim, it is being revived once more from July 2-4 at the Strutts Centre, Belper.

The piece is a contemporary psychological thriller set in the heart of the home – the kitchen - during the dark period of social renovation where change is inevitable but not always for the best.

Phone calls fill the grubby little kitchen as Jenny waits anxiously for her husband, Josh, to return home from work.

Frustration builds as uninvited - well-meaning - friends and family drop by during the evening to disturb Jenny’s train of thoughts, demanding advice for their own problems and all asking the same question: Where is Josh?

Firstly there’s Madge, barging in with her Wellington boots with the order of a dozen eggs and her unrequited attentions directed at the fishmonger employee at Morrison’s, with whom she is trying to bag a date: Dilly - Josh’s bitterly emotional mother, determined to prevent him from attending her ex-husband’s wedding to the home-wrecking “tart” he left her for and finally, Matt, Jenny’s brother, who is restlessly bored and unsure of his own future having had enough of his partner Graeme and has decided to leave this unsatisfactory relationship in the hopes of moving in with his sister.

As the evening unfolds secrets are revealed and the actual whereabouts of Jenny’s husband is called into question as all three visitors try to find out what Jenny is trying to hide – could it have anything to do with the mystery man known as Lewis?
