catch tim’s touring tale

Fritchley playwright Tim Elgood’s latest offering ends its Live and Local tour of the Midlands with a visit to Crich Glebe Field Centre on Sunday, June 14, starting at 7.30pm.

Growing old is inevitable. Growing up is optional.

A funny and poignant new play by the award-winning writer Tim Elgood, Unforgettable explores how we grow up; grow old; and embark on a lifetime of self-discovery.

It is presented by New Perspectives Theatre Company in association with Derby LIVE.

Moving in and out of different time frames, the play explores memory change and loss in a rich and inventive way.

Home is where your parents are. No matter where you fly – that ‘homing instinct’ applies.

Rosie and Jed are both in their 60s.

A lot of water has flowed under the bridge since they shared bunk beds as children, and squabbled, and competed for Mum and Dad’s attention.

Jed was Rosie’s ‘Best Man’ at her wedding – and her soul mate when she divorced. Now fate finds them back at home together once again.

The thing about sibling rivalry and unity is that it knows no time restraints. Brothers and sisters might grow older – but they seldom grow up.

Unforgettable is the winning entry in the New Perspectives 2014 Long Play Competition and is suitable for those aged 14 and over.

Tim’s first play, A Stone’s Throw from Edward, was performed at Buxton International Arts Festival by Fritchley schoolchildren, and won the Granada Foundation Award.

He has written extensively for youth and community theatre groups at Derby Playhouse (Busters Last Stand, By The Baseball Ground), and has also had several plays performed at various venues across the East Midlands, including The Pros, The Cons and A Screw (Derby Theatre).
