Swing and Sing Cornerstone, Sutton Community Academy: Join The Ravenshead Swing Band for great evening of live Big Band music, with vocalists, alongside guests, Mansfield Male Voice Choir, all in aid of a very worthy cause- the NHS on Friday, 27th February, 2026, 8pm to 10.20pm.

Formed in 2011 by bandleader Carolyn Beedle, Ravenshead Swing Band brings together a wonderfully diverse group of local musicians — from teachers and retirees to performers from all musical backgrounds.

The band prides itself on delivering an exciting and eclectic programme, spanning everything from Glenn Miller to Lady Gaga, brought to life by their two outstanding vocalists, Sarah Carlin and Andrew Clarke. Their performances are always full of energy, style, and a genuine love of music-making.

Ravenshead Swing Band regularly performs at weddings, dances, parties, charity events, and at their home base of Ravenshead Village Hall. Their long-standing connection with Mansfield & District Male Voice Choir has led to many memorable collaborations, and they are delighted — and truly honoured — to be performing at this special NHS Charity Concert.

Expect an evening of toe-tapping tunes, uplifting moments, and a joyful celebration of live music.

Mansfield & District Male Voice Choir

In 2024, Mansfield & District Male Voice Choir proudly celebrated its 80th anniversary. The choir was formed in 1944 through the merging of the Rainworth Male Voice Choir (1926) and the Mansfield Orpheus Choir (1931), creating a rich musical legacy that continues to this day.

Once a highly successful competition choir — winning no fewer than 58 regional and national first prizes — the choir now performs a broad and engaging repertoire. Their programmes include popular songs, musical theatre favourites, and traditional male voice choir classics.

The choir regularly performs both locally and further afield, collaborating with male, female, and mixed choirs, as well as bands and orchestras. Highlights include a tour of Wales singing alongside four Welsh choirs, performances at No. 10 Downing Street, and concerts with The Band of the Royal Marines and the Syd Lawrence Orchestra.

Deeply committed to supporting local causes, the choir has raised over £65,000 for charity in the past ten years. In recognition of its ambassadorial role in promoting the town, the choir was awarded the Honorary Freedom of the District by the Mayor of Mansfield in 2019 and holds the right to bear the Mansfield Coat of Arms on its uniform.

Beyond these achievements, what truly defines the choir is the joy of singing together and sharing that enthusiasm with audiences at their much-loved, often sell-out concerts. The camaraderie, sense of family, and passion for performance are unmistakable.

The choir is thrilled to once again join their friends Ravenshead Swing Band for another uplifting, foot-tapping evening of music.
