Step into Crooker’s Kingdom at Cromford Mills

The Wireless Theatre Company is making a live recording of Crooker’s Kingdom, a ghostly tale inspired by Cromford Mills, on Saturday, October 31.

In a play mingling Cromford’s history with the supernatural and chills of an authentic local legend, the multi award-winning Wireless Theatre Company and playwright Marty Ross (BBC Radio drama; Doctor Who audio), the team responsible for last year’s sell-out ghost story The Woman On The Bridge at the Buxton Festival, present another of their unique ‘live radio drama recordings’... a Hallowe’en experience not to be missed.

Sir Richard Arkwright has brought modernity to a remote corner of Derbyshire with the creation of Cromford Mill. Now, as his crowning glory, he’s going to build himself a castle.

But locals warn Arkwright of a local legend about Crooker, a dangerous nature spirit. Sir Richard scoffs at such notions - until it becomes clear an uncanny force in the landscape is prepared to fight him for ownership of the valley.

There is also a Spooky Soup Supper in Arkwrights Café. Enjoy a warming bowl of pumpkin soup, roll and homemade cake before the ghostly drama Crooker’s Kingdom begins.

Crooker’s Kingdom will take place at 7.30pm on Saturday, October 31, and will take place in the Riber Room at Cromford Mills (please note that this is accessed only by stairs). Tickets are £12.50 and advance booking is strongly recommended.
