Starship fly in at The Flowerpot

Green Date bring their tribute to the music of Green Day to The Flowerpot in Derby on Friday, January 23.

The formation of Green Date pre-dates the world shaking arrival of the Green Day album American Idiot and the never-to-be-forgotten Bullet In A Bible tour.

In that time, Green Date have grown from strength to strength, performing their own mammoth gigs up to two and half hours in length. Based in Nottinghamshire, Green Date are one of the finest tribute bands, displaying their talents to fans across the four corners of the British Isles and further afield into mainland Europe.

There’s more tribute fun at the King Street-based venue on Saturday, January 24, when Hi-On Maiden and Sack Sabbath put in an appearance.

The classic rock double bill features tributes to the music of Hi-On Maiden and Sack Sabbath.

Sack Sabbath deliver a powerhouse set of all the greatest doom laden anthems from the masters of metal, performing only songs from the classic era of Sabbath 1970-1975.

They will transport you back in time to the mid 70s when Black Sabbath were at the peak of their game and ruled the rock world.

Hayseed Dixie are the visitors for a gig on Tuesday, January 27, that has already sold out.

Support on the night comes from Tom Copson.

Then, on Wednesday, January 28, RAW Promotions are proud to present an appearance at The Flowerpot from an iconic rock band who start a short run of only seven UK dates: Jefferson Starship.

The gig is called The Music of Jefferson Airplane 50th anniversary Celebration, by Jefferson Starship.

It will feature Paul Kantner, (Jefferson Airplane founder), David Feriberg (Jefferson Airplane singer), Cathy Richardson (the songs of Grace Slick), Donny Baldwin (Jefferson Starship drums), Chris Smith (Jefferson Starship keybd/bass), Jude Gold (JGB/ Jefferson Starship lead guitar).

Tracks on the setlist are likely to include White Rabbit, Somebody To Love, Volunteers, Wooden Ships, Lather, Today, Plastic Fantastic Lover, Crown Of Creation, Get Together, She Has Funny Cars, and all the hits of Jefferson Starship including Jane, Miracles, Count On Me and more.

Paul Kantner founded Jefferson Airplane in 1965.

The Airplane were the biggest rock group in America during the 1960s and the first San Francisco band to sign a major record deal, paving the way for other legends like Grateful Dead and Janis Joplin.

They headlined the original Woodstock Festival in 1969 and like The Beatles with whom they are critically compared, lasted a mere seven years ... though their influence and impact on rock music continues well into the 21st century.

In 1974, Kantner created Jefferson Starship and again enjoyed chart-topping success.

Paul, and Jefferson Airplane, were inducted into The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1996, the same year as Pink Floyd.

Finally, Thursday, January 29, features a performance by Paul Jones and Dave Kelly.
