Sheffield City Hall’s international concert programme opens
Pianist Sunwook Kim joins the Hallé orchestra for the opening performance of the international concert season at Sheffield City Hall.
There could not be a more fitting line-up for the opening concert this evening (Friday, September 18). Sunwook Kim is the season’s new resident artist and, in the renowned Hallé ensemble, he performs with the season’s resident 0rchestra, led by Sir Mark Elder, their principal conductor.
They will perform an exhilarating all Russian programme opening with the whirlwind of an overture Glinka composed for his opera Ruslan and Ludmilla.
Rachmaninov’s Third Piano Concerto follows and the night concludes with Rachmaninov’s glorious Third Symphony,
