Set a date in your diary to see Mansfield’s Calendar Girls bare all

MASQUE Productions is back on the stage after the success of its Whistle Down The Wind performance last year.

Normally known for its large scale musicals, the theatre group is proud to present the first amateur production in Mansfield of the smash hit play ‘Calendar Girls.’

Based on the film starring Julie Walters and Helen Mirren, Calendar Girls tells the true story about a group of extraordinary women who persuade one another to pose for a charity calendar with a difference - to the surprise of their Yorkshire WI.

As Andrew Wolden, director, producer and chairman of the group puts it: “No more photos of Wharfedale bridges or Norman churches for our brave Calendar Girls.

“By overcoming their initial reserve, the friends drop their dressing gowns, their modesty spared only by artfully placed cakes, knitting and flower arrangements.

“MASQUE Productions will be performing Calendar Girls to raise funds for leukaemia and lymphoma research.”

The group, which has been performing since 1972, is also taking part in a bid to break the world record for the most productions of a play within one calendar year.

The show will open at Mansfield Palace Theatre on Monday 24th February and run to Friday 28th February.

Performances will start at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £12 and £11 for concessions and audience members must be aged 12 and over.

Mr Wolden added: “It is a very English story with a very English heart. Calendar Girls is quirky, poignant and hilarious.”
