Review: Crowd go wild for The Vamps and Aston Merrygold at Hallam FM Summer Live

It’s not every day that you get so many exciting names on one bill. Hallam FM sure offered us a night to remember with its second ’Summer Live’ event at Sheffield’s Motorpoint Arena.

The Vamps had all the girls screaming as they began the show, and successfully set the tone for a great night. The X Factor’s eight-piece boy band, Stereo Kicks, definitely filled the stage and had the crowd swaying with their phones in the air throughout their set.

Aston Merrygold introduced his new sound, which is rather similar to that of Bruno Mars, and the crowd loved it and the girls were screaming uncontrollably. Then it was Dappy who came on stage shirtless and full of energy. He promised us that he’s ‘coming back this year’ and played some of his old hits that of course everyone still knew the words to.

Then it was Foxes, a relatively new artist that seems to be struggling to break into the music industry, however she came on stage with plenty of energy to keep to crowd going and has got a wonderful voice.

Alesha Dixon was the biggest surprise of the night, she looked great and gave an amazing performance. The crowd really loved her as she sang, and danced, and rapped, and kept everyone moving.

Lawson sustained the great atmosphere with their performance. They gave some covers of popular songs as well as performing some of their own. Nathan Sykes hit the stage with his debut single ‘Kiss Me Quick’ as he also begins his solo career.

Blonde gave an awesome set that kept everyone on their feet with their fists pumping in the air. Taio Cruz was an incredible end to the show and I don’t think anyone was ready to go home!

It was a shame that so many acts had such little time on stage but it was a small sacrifice when you get to see so many different artists! There was never a dull moment with ‘Dance Cams’ and music to fill any period of potential boredom. I can’t wait for next year!
