Panto tickets selling out fast

Tickets are going fast for this year’s spectacular panto coming to Mansfield Palace Theatre.

Preparations are under way for the festive production of Sleeping Beauty as sales continue to soar towards 50 per cent sold already.

And The Palace Theatre is now delighted to reveal who will be playing the much loved title role of Sleeping Beauty herself. This year Amy Thompson, who is presenter on Channel 5’s morning children’s show, Milkshake! will be taking on the princess role.

Before presenting Milkshake! Amy worked extensively as an actress after graduating from the University of Hull, where she studied Drama.

Her many theatre credits include Gail in Teechers, Holly in Christmas Crackers, Annie in Wrestling Mad, Kay in Salt of the Earth, Maria in Screaming Blue Murder, Maggie in Thick as a Brick (all written and directed by John Godber for the Hull Truck Theatre Company).

Amy said: “The thing with theatre is that you give that bit more energy and you certainly get it back.

“I feel drained afterwards. It certainly keeps me fit.”

Playing the role of Silly Billy is funny man, Adam Moss.

Thrilled to be joining the cast of Sleeping Beauty with UK Productions this Christmas, Adam’s favourite time of year is Panto time as he gets to do what he does best - act like a fool.

After three years of hard work Adam graduated and got a lucky break at ITV.

He became the assistant floor manager for SMTV with Ant and Dec, he then appeared on TV and films such as Eastenders, Holby City, Chucklevision, Spooks, Hex, Miss Marple, In 2 minds, Hustle, The Match, Silent Witness, Powers, Wedding Date, Being Julia, The Bill and Last Detective.

Adam also received a BAFTA nomination for a short film called “The Adventures of George the Projectionist”.

Recently the Theatre announced Coronation Street star Vicky Entwistle as playing the Bad Fairy.

The much-loved soap actress, who is well known for playing loudmouth factory worker Janice.

Speaking about coming to Mansfield, Vicky said: “I love pantomimes and seem to have a track record for playing villains!

“It’s about the kids at the end of the day, I love to hear them booing or hissing because getting a reaction is what it’s all about.”
