Opera North to stage The Bartered Bride, La Traviata and The Coronation of Poppea in Nottinghaam’s Theatre Royal.

Opera North’s exuberant new season is a perfect marriage of drama and comedy, bringing three contrasting operas to life on stage at Nottingham Theatre Royal.

The season includes the world’s most popular romantic opera, a beautiful Baroque music drama and a high-spirited Czech comedy. All three operas together explore the price of love and lust, through the cost of pursuing romantic relationships which break social and moral codes.

The Bartered Bride by Bedřich Smetana will be sung in English on Tuesday, November 25 and Thursday, November 27.

La Traviata by Giuseppe Verdi will be sung in Italian with English surtitles on Wednesday, November 26 and Friday, November 28.

The trio is completed by The Coronation of Poppea by Claudio Monteverdi which will be staged on Saturday, November 29.
