Nailed On gig at Old King’s Head

Headlining will be Karl and the Marx Brothers (pictured) – described by Boff Whalley of Chumbawamba as bBeautifully peculiar in its marriage of heartfelt anger and pleasantly insidious tunes”.

They are unapologetic purveyors of ‘angry folk’, a compelling mixture of indie, folk and pop that won plaudits from the critics on their debut CD, Angry Folk in 2013.

Matt McGuinness of the band said: “We play songs that resonate with our own genuine experience, fuelled by a positive outlook but underpinned by the environment of distrust in mainstream politics, wariness of the changes to the country’s support networks and the ongoing crises that loom around the world.

“With that sort of subject matter, humour also plays an essential part in the tunes, along with a healthy dose of sarcasm.”

Also on the bill will be the melodic, angelic Annette Oakes, plus some poetic interludes from young spoken wordster Dathan Horridge.
