MANSFIELD: TV comic set for Palace date

He’s a familiar face to television viewers with his topical rants and political observations on shows including Mock the Week and Live at the Apollo.

Now comedy fans are in for a treat as comic Andy Parsons gets set to bring his latest tour - I’ve Got a Shed - to Mansfield Palace Theatre later this month.

And the self-confessed news junkie says his latest material will be as topical as ever.

Starting out as a writer on the hit 80s satirical show Spitting Image, I’ve Got a Shed is his fourth national tour.

Andy said: “I do get angry about things. Part of the show details the minor things that have upset me and how ridiculous they are.

“For instance, Kendal Mint Cake recently came across my radar. I have a rant about that, particularly its taste.

“They say it’s good for emergencies, but that’s because it’s the only food guaranteed to be left by the time an emergency comes around. It’s not a mint, and it’s not a cake.”

The fiesty comic, who studied Law at Cambridge University and was a member of the renowned Footlights comedy troupe, told Chad that he can’t wait to get back on the road.

He said: “I love doing live comedy.

“There are few better feelings than hearing a whole theatre laughing at something you’ve written.

“Sometimes a room just goes ‘Bang!’ When that happens, you can almost have a sit down and make yourself a cup of tea before coming back thirty seconds later. It’s an extremely enjoyable thing. I’ve never got bored of it.”

Andy Parsons is at the Mansfield Palace Theatre on Friday 25th October at 7.30pm. Tickets are priced at £15.38 for all seats, and includes the 2.5 per cent booking fee.

To book, call the Box Office on 01623 633133 or book online at www.mansfield.gov.uk/palacetheatre.
