Mansfield families invited to discover a fresh approach to education at Achievement Unlocked alternative provision open event

For some families, the hardest part of the further education system is not knowing where to turn next.
You attend meetings, complete referrals and continue to wait for support while your young person falls further behind or is out of education altogether.
You hear their needs cannot be met in mainstream education, yet they do not meet the threshold for specialist placements and for those aged 16+ with an EHCP, there is another option available.
Education that starts with understanding

Here at the Inspire and Achieve foundation we believe that every young person deserves an education that recognises their needs, understands their barriers and believes in their potential.
Our alternative provision, Achievement Unlocked, was created to support young people with an EHCP to access their legal entitlement to suitable education up to the age of 25 through inclusive, age appropriate learning environments that focus on understanding each young person as an individual; working to build trust, design a personalised curriculum and develop skills through practical, community-based experiences to support personal development and future independence.
To help local families and young people to explore this alternative pathway, we will be opening the doors to our provision on 24th March so you can learn more about accessing one of 20 available places where education can begin.
Support to get here

Finding the right educational support can be an exhausting process so we are committed to working alongside families to help them understand their options and to advocate for the needs of their young person.
Whilst this can feel like a slow process, the results speak for themselves when you see a young person finally feel at ease within their learning. As one parent whose son is currently learning with us shared: “I can see a change in them already. They are doing so well and I can tell they really enjoy it.”
To help families with the transition process, visitors to our open event will be able to:
- Speak directly with the AP manager about the challenges their young person may be facing and the support available.
- Tell us all about themselves including any special interests or career ambitions you might have so we can weave these into our bespoke offer to you.
- Explore the Mansfield alternative provision and youth hub venue including our teaching spaces, life skills kitchen, community garden, sensory rooms, IT suite and gaming lounge.
- Meet the staff team who support our young people every day
- Learn more about our curriculum delivering The King’s Trust Achieve programme and functional skills qualifications
- Ask questions about the referral process and how to begin transitional sessions with us.
- Understand how the provision supports young people across Nottinghamshire by talking to some of the young people we currently support.
