Mansfield based noise makers The Publics on track to sell out their biggest show to date

The Publics are a five piece indie rock band, forming in the little town of Mansfield. Their anthemic brand of catchy riffs and powerful choruses has seen the group embark on a years worth of heavy gigging, including high profile support slots with The Sherlocks and The Lottery Winners as well as festival performances at YNOT? and Splendour.

Drawing inspiration from indie favourites, combining melody with a heavy dose of rock ‘n’ roll spirit, the band are set to make 2024 their year following the release of their debut EP ‘I Know The World Stopped, but Why Did You?’. The project focuses on the telling of grounded ‘small-town’ stories, at a stadium-worthy level of punch and compellingness. Pulling from the indie sound of the 2010’s and infused with cinematic atmosphere, the EP is set to amplify the bands’ reach across and beyond the UK.

All throughout their six track debut EP lie anthemic choruses and powerful rhythms, all of which expertly crafted to feel as cathartic and energetic as the next. Complete with roaring distortion and meaningful lyrics, the band have embodied their commanding energy into something that evokes just as much emotion as it does excitement. Released in September, the debut effort has also received a physical release on limited edition vinyl, which is available to order now.

Speaking about the EP, the band explained, “Most of our songs are written as character studies based on either people we've met or from stories that our friends have shared about people they know. ‘Relatability’ is a huge factor in people connecting with a song and we don’t feel as though we've lived very ‘relatable’ lives. By telling others’ stories our songs' cover a range of topics, It also means that when we do write personal songs, such as I Know the World Stopped, but Why Did You? and Murphy's Law, they tend to have that extra kick to them!”
