Italian aces bring tribute to city venue

La Villa Strangiato will be paying a visit to The Flowerpot in Derby on Friday, April 10.

The Italian band will be playing the best of Rush in this tribute show.

La Villa Strangiato is a project, started in 2010, by Gabriele Ferrari and Carlo Fattorini, two musicians from Rome who had already worked together in the project Yessongs Italy, with which they gained international praise.

The purpose of La Villa Strangiato is to revive Rush’s production of the ‘70s and first ‘80s, the period of their maximum popularity.

The band presented their first show (entirely dedicated to the album Exit Stage Left) in Rome in March 2011.

From then on, they started playing in several clubs across Europe with good results, but it’s with the contribution of musician Claudio Sinisi (guitar) that they finally achieved the perfect combination of sound and technique.

With this line-up, La Villa Strangiato will perform, during the following years, in some of the best clubs in Europe, like the Spirit Of ‘66 in Belgium and the Boerderij in Netherlands. They were chosen as the official Rush tribute band and invited to play the official European convention devoted to Rush fans.

Then, on Thursday, April 16, there’s a visit from The Deborah Bonham Band.

The younger sister of Led Zeppelin’s legendary drummer John Bonham, Deborah puts on a stunning array of blues mixed with ballads and rock in a powerhouse performance.

The Flowerpot date is part of a nationwide tour to promote her latest studio album Spirit.

A regular festival favourite (Fairport Convention’s Cropredy Festival; The Great British Rock & Blues Festival; Cambridge Rock, Donington, Weyfest, Wickham and European Harley Davidson Festivals), Deborah Bonham and her band, now featuring Jo Burt (Black Sabbath, Freddie Mercury, Tom Robinson) on bass and Frank Benbini (Fun Lovin Criminals) on drums, began 2015 at the Giants of Rock festival after taking it by storm in 2014.

After the year’s touring climaxed with a mesmerizing performance at The Royal Albert Hall as guest to Paul Rodgers that received a standing ovation at the sell out concert, a select six UK dates only have been booked for spring 2015.

Deborah Bonham has toured and performed with Robert Plant, Van Halen, Ann Peebles, Humble Pie, Foreigner, Ozzy Osbourne, Nazareth, Jools Holland and Stax label legend Steve Cropper.

Support on the night comes from Jo Burt.

Doors open at 8pm and admission is £10 for La Villa Strangiato and £12 for The Deborah Bonham Band.

Advance tickets are available from The Flowerpot and RAW Promotions, as well as at www.rawpromo.co.uk
