Grayson Perry and Esther Freud among bit names at Art Out Loud festival at Chatsworth

Artists, curators and writers will be appearing at a major new festival at Chatsworth.

British sculptor Conrad Shawcross, pictured, completes the line-up of 25 contributors to The Chatsworth Festival - Art Out Loud this weekend.

Shawcross stole the show at this year’s Royal Academy Summer Exhibition with his vast modular sculpture ‘The Dappled Light of the Sun’.

A variation of the sculpture is currently on view at Chatsworth as part of ‘Beyond Limits: The Landscape of British Sculpture 1950-2015’ monumental sculpture exhibition.

The sculptor will discuss his installations, artistic influences and the inspiration behind his work when he appears at the festival in conversation with Tim Marlow, artistic director of the Royal Academy and Beyond Limits guest curator, on Sunday, Setpember 20, at 4.30pm.

He joins a line-up of festival speakers including Turner Prize winner Grayson Perry CBE, conceptual artist and painter Michael Craig-Martin, writer and BBC Arts Editor Will Gompertz, novelists Esther Freud and Hannah Rothschild and many more.

Due to popular demand a limited number of extra tickets have also been made available for the sold out talk by Grayson Perry on September 20 at Art Out Loud.

The Turner prize-winner considers art history’s web of connections and influences and what they mean for artists including himself.

Talks will take place in a marquee on the private south lawn and in the historic theatre. Tickets are on sale at www.chatsworth.org priced at £12.50 per talk and include entry to the garden and the sculpture exhibition Beyond Limits: The Landscape of British Sculpture 1950-2015.

Art Out Loud, running from September 18 to 20, continues Chatsworth’s long association with the literary world. The Duke of Devonshire owns an antiquarian bookshop in Mayfair where his aunt Nancy Mitford, author of ‘Love in a Cold Climate’, worked during the Second World War, while his mother Deborah Cavendish was a successful published author of more than a dozen books.
