Exile Fest celebrates ten years

Exile Fest celebrates its tenth anniversary this weekend with a bumper selection of music.

It takes place at Sabine Hay, near Darley Dale, from Friday, June 26, to Sunday, June 28.

Andy Martin and Paul Robins first started the music festival in Belper and moved to the new privately owned site near Matlock in 2009. They started with a local council grant and managed to keep it going each year, depending heavily on the support and help of loyal volunteers.

It’s now set in the idyllic Derbyshire countryside and one of their major aims is to encourage up and coming young bands such as Project Jam Sandwich. They also support local popular bands, like Parwich-based seven-piece folk rock band A52s, which get the festival goers up and dancing.

Other acts performing this year include A Harp and a Monkey, Red Ruff, DH Lawrence and the Vaudeville Skiffle Show, Heartless Tarts, Hivemind, the Rotten Hill Gang, Disco Misfits and Eliza P.
