Drama group present comedy premiere at Alfreton’s Wesley Church

A gang of petty pilferers are set to steal the show when a new farce has its premiere at Alfreton.

For the burly burglars are hired out to unsuspecting families in the guise of nannies and care workers.

But the enterprise looks set to come unstuck when a new recruit gets cold feet in Crooks and Nannies.

The play is being staged at Alfreton Wesley Church on Thursday, July 23 and Friday, July 24, at 7pm.

Admission is free, but there will be a collection for Macmillan Cancer Support, in memory of drama group member Mike Howell, who died earlier this year.

The three-act comedy is the latest in a 25-year history of performing plays at the church in Ellesmere Avenue.

The drama group’s first production was a one-nighter and now the team presents three shows a year.

Producer David Hopkinson said: “Our summer show is always a comedy and audiences can expect plenty of laughs in this year’s production.”

The play will be followed by refreshments.
