Diamond return for Sons

A harmony band that started its career with a gig at Sutton’s Golden Diamond is returning to the venue to play again - 48 years later!

And the Sons and Lovers line-up will even feature two of the original members when they appear at The Diamond on Friday (25th April).

Sons and Lovers played their first ever gig at the Sutton club back in August 1966 and then played their last gig at the same place in April 1972.

In between these dates the band enjoyed a successful career which included supporting Jimi Hendrix in 1967 and scoring a number one single in Israel in 1968 with their song ‘Happiness is Love’.

They also appeared on BBC2’s Colour Me Pop, in pantomime in Birmingham with Ronnie Corbett in Cinderella and supported Shirley - on her 1971 tour.
