The concert is the first in a busy 160th season for Nottingham Harmonic Choir.

November sees a father and son represented when CPE Bach’s striking Magnificat is married up with part of the Orchestral Suite No. 3, composed by his father Johann Sebastian.

December begins with Handel’s oratorio Messiah, offering tender, thrilling music. The month finishes with two winning family Carol Concerts, where complete audience participation is required.

The now regular Come and Sing event will take place in February. Bookings have already been taken. Works to be studied are by Rutter, Vivaldi and Gabrieli.

In March, the choir teams up with the BBC Symphony Orchestra to perform Carl Orff’s iconic cantata Carmina Burana. In total contrast, the May concert comprises the lyrical Durufle Requiem, Tippett’s Five Spirituals, and Missa Brevis by Kodaly.
