Cantamus plan sponsored sing day ahead of trip down under

Internationally renowned, Mansfield-based Cantamus Girls’ Choir have accepted an invitation to travel to Australia next summer, which will include a performance at the iconic Sydney Opera House.

Since the 1970s, Cantamus have performed in concerts and competitions in many European countries, where the choir has been acclaimed for its’ outstanding, moving performances and impeccable technique.

In more recent years, Cantamus have also visited Israel, Japan, China, Malaysia, Singapore, USA and Canada. The girls have been very proud to ‘fly the flag’ for Britain and are thrilled that this opportunity to perform for audiences in Australia has arisen.

The choirs’ director Ann Irons and assistant director Elaine Guy said: “We are so delighted to be able to build upon the legacy of Cantamus, left by our late founder and director of the choir, Pamela Cook. She would be extremely proud to know that we are taking Cantamus into new, faraway,

territory and are not afraid of the challenges, in every respect, that this will bring!”

Cantamus will be raising funds for the trip with a sponsored sing day, to take place on Saturday. October 10, at Ravenshead Village Hall from 10am-4pm.

Entry is free and the girls will be singing a variety of light-hearted songs, solos, duets and trios.

Coffee, lunch or tea will be available and there will be a variety of stalls.
