The concert will feature soloists and Viva players Adam Mackenzie (bassoon) and Emily Pailthorpe (oboe) as part of Viva’s commitment to develop and showcase the talents of its own musicians.

This will be closely followed by the culmination performance of Viva’s spring education residency at Derby Theatre on January 26.

The residency will involve more than 100 young people from local schools and colleges and will gain inspiration from the work of Derby historian and poet William Hutton who, aged seven years was employed in Derby’s Silk Mill on a seven-year apprenticeship.

Then, on March 3, 2016, Viva will return to Derby Cathedral for a concert featuring a broad repertoire including arrangements by one of its longest-serving musicians Graham Hall, an accomplished composer and percussionist.
