Borough is in the spotlight at event

Amber Fest, the Community Showcase Day, is to take place on Saturday, July 18.

It runs from 10am-3.30pm at Ripley Market Place, and is free to attend. Amber Fest is being staged by Amber Valley Borough Council, along with a number of partners, and will be showing why the Borough is such a great place to live, work and play.

Amber Fest will then be followed by Ripley Music Festival, with local bands performing from 1pm in the afternoon and an evening of music in Crossley Park, culminating in the Proms in the Park firework final.

The day will introduce you to some of the area’s treasures, from green spaces and award-winning parks to healthy activities.

At the same time, visitors will be able to find out how to make their home energy efficient, how to reduce waste and recycle and reuse. EnviroCrime will also be in the spotlight along with the work of the neighbourhood community wardens.

The Community Safety Team will be on hand to give advice on crime prevention and other community safety related matters. DerwentWISE and Groundwork will be highlighting how local people can improve the environment. Music and dance performances will take place throughout the day and there will be activities for children and older family members to enjoy. Among the line-up will be face painting, balloon modelling, Ripley Morris Men, Ripley Green Garters Morris Dancers and more.
