Ashfield Plant Fayre celebrates 20th anniversary

Ashfield’s gardening enthusiasts can stock up on plants and bulbs next month at the 20th annual Plant Fayre at Sutton Market Place.

The event on Sunday 18th May will be bigger and better with many traders already booked.

Entry to the fayre is free of charge and there will be refreshments and children’s entertainment also available on the day.

Ashfield Council Senior Markets Officer Dave Barker, said: “It will be a great community event bringing a buzz and vitality to the town centre.

we have sold more stalls than any previous year and have also added an element for the younger visitors to make this a family event and not just a plant market.”

He said the event has now sold out all 54 available market stalls with enquiries still coming in.

He added: “There will be a whole range if different stalls selling plants and gardening equipment and rides for the children to make it a family event.”

For the younger visitors, Sure Start and Sutton Academy will be on site with childrens activities, face painting, grow your own sunflower/vegetable kits, grassheads and many other activities.

There will be small fairground rides and carousels suitable for small children, food and refreshment vans.
