A NEW interpretation of German playwright Georg Büchner’s play ‘Woyzeck’ will open at Nottingham Playhouse tomorrow.
Presented by Nottingham Playhouse Youth Theatre, this is a chilling tale of a man who is forced to sell his body for scientific research to support his family.
Sarah Stephenson, director of the show and education officer at Nottingham Playhouse, says: “For the concept I was most interested in the state of Woyzeck’s mind at the moment when he commits his terrible crime. Is he guilty or merely a tragic figure of the world he inhabits?
“My challenge as director has been to provide a true insight into Woyzeck’s sanity and through the creative imagination of some of the most gifted young people making theatre in our region today, I believe we have achieved it.”
l ‘Woyzeck’ runs until Saturday and tickets are £5 (concessions under-26s £4). For details or to book tickets call (0115) 941 9419 or visit www.nottinghamplayhouse.co.uk.
