STRAW hats are at the ready as an amateur theatre group from Mansfield takes to the stage with a show for all the family.
And Masque Productions has teamed up with Chad to give away six pairs of tickets for the production, Half a Sixpence, which runs from 6th to 10th November at the Mansfield Palace Theatre.
A musical comedy for the whole family, it was made world famous in the 1960s by Tommy Steele and based upon the classic HG Wells novel ‘Kipps: The Story of a Simple Soul’.
This revised musical version tells the story of young shop worker Arthur Kipps who works for a tyrannical draper but attempts to transfer from his humble beginnings into the gentry after inheriting a fortune.
He abandons his first love, Ann, to whom he has given half a sixpence as a love token.
Although Arthur climbs the social ladder, can his new wealth bring Kipps happiness?
Book now to find out how it turns out for him in this heart-warming musical tale of rags to riches and back again.
This new updated version features lots of lively characters, dancing and songs including ‘Flash Bang Wallop’, ‘Money to Burn’ and the title song ‘Half a Sixpence’.
