Local amateur dramatic groups and dance schools have enjoyed performing on the PalaceTheatre stage for many years, and if you’re looking for something to do in March, there’s a great selection of shows to choose from thanks to local performers.

Following successful productions of Calamity Jane and Oliver, Mansfield Operatic Society present Anything Goes as their 102nd production from March 2 – 6. Anything Goes was the musical which introduced songs such as You’re the Top and I Get a Kick out of You. Expect madcap antics and a little romance aboard an ocean liner bound from New York to London. (See page 62 to win tickets.)

Masque Productions present Stepping out, written by Richard Harris, between March 9 – 12. The show is an endearing tale of how determination, friendship and camaraderie can shape even the most bashful into proud performers. This tale of tap culminates in a charity concert - will the show go well, or will everyone, literally, fall flat on their faces?

Mansfield’s New Youth Theatre group will bring the charming story of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Carousel alive on on March 14 and 15. This is a tale of two loners who meet and fall in love, but with tragic consequences. Songs include the iconic You’ll Never Walk Alone in the musical which was voted the best of the 20th century by Time Magazine.

Funky Studios are proud to make their debut performance with a thrilling new piece of contemporary musical theatre in Bring it On - the Musical. Two squads, one mission: claim the title at the National Cheerleading Championships. This musical comedy is based on the hit film, Bring it On, and will be at the Palace Theatre on Wednesday 30 and Thursday 31 March.
