Grand effort from singers

The 40-strong mixed choral group, led by chairman Noel Jervis and musical director Lynda Harvey, wowed a sell-out audience at Nuthall Methodist Church.

Bluecoat’s outstanding efforts were duly rewarded and the proceeds will benefit a charity which provides support and research into the progressive neurological condition of sufferers as well as helping dedicated carers.

At a choir rehearsal held at the Temple Centre in Nuthall, Parkinsons UK representative William Randall accepted a cheque from Noel Jervis and praised the singers for its rock solid support over a long period of time.

“The Bluecoat Singers have championed Parkinsons UK for many years and its reputation as one of Nottinghamshire’s leading choral groups is second to none.” said Mr.Randall.

Mr Jervis said: “We began helping good causes when the Ethiopia disaster struck in 1984. In the 30 years since, we have gone on to raise thousands for various charities but Parkinsons UK is special to us as the husband of one of our most valued singers has the condition.”
