SQUEAKY voiced comedian Joe Pasquale tops the bill for this year’s panto spectacular at the Theatre Royal, Nottingham.

Joe, is taking on the traditional role of Muddles, - the hapless, dopey yet lovable sidekick for this year’s production of the classic pantomime, Sleeping Beauty.

“Muddles, Buttons and all of these characters are basically the same role and it’s a great one - it’s your job to make the audience laugh.

“My character is the guy who is always unlucky in love but he is the one everyone gets behind and cheers for,” said Joe.

“We have got a great cast and they can handle me moving away from the script a little bit, which is nice.”

Joe is best known for his TV comedy appearances and for being crowned king of the jungle in reality TV show, I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here.

More recently he has become something of an action man - having taken up boxing, gaining his pilot’s licence and running the London Marathon. The training will not hurt the stamina required to perform twice a day for almost a month. Taking on the role of Lady Passionella is female impersonator Ceri Dupree, who is appearing as the dame for a third stint.

Ceri has been impersonating female singers for 25 years from Madonna to Tina Turner.

“I don’t want to say too much but my act definitely plays a part in the show - but you will have to wait and see!” he said.

Ceri, who towers above his co-star in high heels, said he was looking forward to the audience seeing his outfits.

“The costumes start off fairly plain and the idea is they get more and more elaborate as the show goes on. It is quite a sight to see.”

Sleeping Beauty is the tale of a beautiful princess cursed to fall into a deep sleep for 100 years and a prince who rescues her with a magical kiss.

Audiences can expect to be wowed by this year’s hi-tech show features 3D effects.

The shows run at various times from 10th December to 15th January. Tickets priced from £13 are available by ringing 0115 9895555.
