THEATRE-GOERS can expect an evening of honest and often hilarious tales when the ever-popular Vagina Monologues returns to Mansfield’s Palace Theatre next month.
The show, which was a sell-out when it last came to Mansfield in November 2010, is based on the writings of US author Eve Ensler, who conducted a series of interviews with women who revealed some of their most intimate secrets.
First performed in New York in 1996, some of the stories are funny and outrageous, while others are brave and poignant.
The West End and Broadway hit is perhaps best known for the host of well-loved women who have starred in it over the years, including Jane Fonda, Oprah Winfrey, Cyndi Lauper, Whoopie Goldberg and many more.
The latest UK production is no exception and it stars TV favourite Clare Buckfield who is a Dancing on Ice finalist. Clare is also well-known for in the 1990s sitcom 2point4 children in which she appeared as the family’s eldest daughter Jenny Porter.
It also stars Coronation Street’s Vicky Entwistle along with Chelsee Healey, who is well-known for her roles on Strictly Come Dancing Finalist and Waterloo Road.
Chelsee will be making her stage debut in the show.
Andrew Tucker, Cultural Services Manager, said that the show is even better than it was before.
He said: “Bring your mum, your best friend, your sister or even your gran – this riotous evening is the ultimate girl’s night out.”
The Vagina Monologues takes place at the Palace on 16th October at 7.30pm.
The show is suitable for theatre-goers who are aged 16 and above.
Tickets are priced at £18.50 and £17.50 for concessions. Anyone buying 10 tickets will get the 11th free.
