If you remember and loved the heydays of Tamla Motown, make sure you get your ticket to Motown’s Greatest Hits - How Sweet It Is, which is at Mansfield Palace Theatre on Saturday, October 25.
Now in its 13th successive year, this live show features all your favourite numbers, backed by a live band, and slick choreography.
The evening will have you Dancing On The Ceiling with songs from legendary artists such as Lionel Ritchie, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder, The Four Tops, Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye, The Jackson Five, The Isley Brothers, Edwin Starr and many more.
The five vocalists - Michael, Martell, Delroy, Jason and Jordan - are also trained dancers who will spin their way through the golden Tamla Motown days of the 60s, 70s, 80s and 9os.
The music genre began in 1959 when Berry Gordy Jr had a dream and with a loan of 800 dollars started Motown records in Detroit.
In the 60s the production and songwriting talents of Holland, Dozier and Holland dominated the Detroit sound, the sound of young America, and they penned and produced numerous hits for The Four Tops and many more artists of the day.
Tamla Motown was also home of The Temptations, who, along with The Four Tops, have two of the longest and distinguished careers to date in popular music, going back to 1954 when the ‘Tops’ performed at a high school graduation party.
