IT was a golden era of music when the charts were filled with soulful pop songs from across the Atlantic like ‘My Girl’, ‘This Old Heart of Mine’ and ‘I heard it through the Grapevine’.
But the classic sounds from Motown are to be brought back to life at Mansfield Palace Theatre with the greatest hits show- ‘How Sweet It Is’.
People will be dancing in the aisles with music from legends such as The Four Tops, The Temptations, Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye, Lionel Richie, The Isley Brothers, The Jackson’s, Stevie Wonder, Edwin Starr and many more.
Co-promoter and musical director of the show, Peter Brent said: “What sets us apart from some other shows is that we’re 100 per cent live, there’s no fancy backing tracks or anything like that.
“Our singers are an act in their own right and they have their own style, they’re not tribute acts but they are fantastic.
“It’s a good night guaranteed if anyone likes Motown and
they will be up dancing in the aisles.”
Backed and supported by the show’s own superb musicians - The Peter Brent Orchestra- people can expect their favourite tracks, including ‘Reach Out I’ll Be There’, ‘Walk Away Renee’, ‘I Cant Help Myself’, ‘Going Loco in Acapulco’, ‘My Girl’, ‘Ain’t Too Proud To Beg’, ‘Papa Was A Rolling Stone’, and ‘Get Ready’, to name but a few.
Peter added: “And don’t forget all that fancy footwork, trained dancers and the choreography of this show is something else and will leave you breathless! – A two hour spectacle of non-stop hits, every one a classic.”
