FORESTRY Commission bosses have announced multi-talented, hip-hop star Plan B will take to the stage at a huge outdoor concert in Sherwood Forest Pines, near Edwinstowe.

Plan B, aka Ben Drew, is the singer-songwriter, rapper, actor and film director who came to prominence with the 2006 release of the critically-acclaimed album, Who Needs Actions When You Got Words.

His 2010 album, The Defamation of Strickland Banks, spawned hits like Stay Too Long, Prayin’ and The Recluse and won him a Brit Award and three Ivor Novellos.

The rapper follows in the footsteps of the likes of Jarvis Cocker, Travis and Erasure who have visited the woodland clearing and played in front of thousands of fans.

He said: “It’s going to be a real adventure taking the Plan B show into the woods. I’m really up for this and hope to see you there.”

Chris Bray, local concert organiser for the Forestry Commission, said: “We are committed to bringing new acts to play in Sherwood and reaching out to different audiences. We have had huge demand for concert tickets over recent years and we are confident Plan B will be another top seller.”

The concert is set to take place at the 3,000-acre beauty spot on 16th June.

Capacity is limited to 5,000 people.

Tickets cost £32 and go on sale at 9am on Friday and are available from the Forestry Commission box office on 03000 680400 or online at www.forestry.gov.uk/music.
