Gig night at Sutton pub

MUSIC fans and artists are being urged to get behind a new gig night at a Sutton pub on Friday.

The Ashfields pub, on Sutton Road, is playing host to the all-new Fuzz Box night, which is being launched this Friday and will run every week.

Friday’s event will be kicked off by Sutton-based indie rock band A Multitude of Sins and they will be joined by Flying Blind on a Rocket Cycle and Hoodline.

The night also aims to showcase the talents of up-and-coming bands - and anyone who wants to secure a gig should go along to the pub on Friday.

Alan Allsop, vocalist in A Multitude of Sins, is one of the promoters.

He said: “What we’re after is for as many bands as possible to, whether local or from elsewhere. If anyone wants to give the landlord a ring or come down on Friday and talk to him then he will book them.

“It should be brilliant. We’re trying to get as many bands as possible and we’re trying to make it a big live music venue.”

The Ashfields pub has always been known as a live music venue.

Alan added: “It used to be such a good pub. At one time, it was absolutely heaving.

“There are that many bands in Sutton, Kirkby and Alfreton who are desperate for gigs.”

l Fuzz Box will begin at 8pm at the Ashfields on Friday.
