Don’t miss out on NSO’s French concert

Nottingham Symphony Orchestra will present four attractive examples of French classical music tomorrow (Saturday) in a concert at Nottingham’s Albert Hall.

The concert gets under way at 7.30pm, will be conducted by Derek Williams, and features works by two contrasting but gifted French composers - Hector Berlioz and Claude Debussy.

The concert opens with Berlioz’s Le Corsaire Overture, followed by the peaceful sounds of Debussy’s Prelude De L’Apres-Mid D’Un Faun.

Debussy’s La Mer is next, a highly descriptive piece depicting the many moods of the sea.

The other work in the concert will see NSO, who have been described by the Sunday Telegraph Magazine as “arguably the premier amateur orchestra in Britain,” teaming up with talented Australian soloist Ann Beilby.

She will be the viola soloist in Berlioz’s exciting, passionate work Harold In Italy.

Tickets are: back stalls, £14 (no concessions); all other seats £12; concessions - seniors £10, under 21s £6. They are available from the Nottingham Playhouse box office on 0115 941 9419.
