Mansfield’s annual panto has been wowing crowds since opening last weekend and locals have the chance to get up close with its stars at an event this evening.
This year’s show at Mansfield Palace Theatre is Aladdin, and those who have already seen it are full of praise for the festive favourite.
Each year, as part of the theatre’s work to ensure local youngsters get the chance to meet the cast, special events take place in the town with the first of these being held tonight (Thursday).
Philip Martin Brown, who plays Abanazar, Chris Edgerley (Aladdin), Gemma Naylor (Princess Jasmine), David Rumelle (Widow Twankey) and Helen Petrovna (Slave of the Ring) will all be at Four Seasons Shopping Centre (near Santa’s Grotto) between 6pm and 7pm.
And then on Saturday December 5 between 11.30am and 12.30pm, Gemma and Chris will be joined by Mark James - who plays the hilarious Wishee Washee - at Mansfield Central Library, where he will even treat you to a magic show!
Pantomime is great festive fun and an interactive theatre experience for the whole family to enjoy. The Aladdin audience has to work almost as hard as the performers, whether it be joining in with this year’s chart topping songs and old classics, assisting in conjuring tricks, booing the villain or warning the hero with ‘He’s behind you!’
